Cyprus Storytelling Festival - English speaking
For the 12th consecutive year, the beloved festival for young and old returns.
ODYSSEYS
The work that has influenced world culture more than any other — this universal symbol of wandering and return — gives its name to this year’s edition of the Storytelling Festival. We invite you on a personal odyssey that becomes a shared adventure, as we face obstacles and temptations together, crossing even the darkest paths to discover those elements of the human soul that fuel perseverance and patience through trials, as well as courage and passion for the journey. Along the way, we will gather the essential provisions that will allow us to reach nostimon imar (the day of sweet return) and learn firsthand what Ithacas truly mean.
We’re counting down — just a breath away from the most important event for fairy tales and storytelling in Cyprus, with parallel events in Thessaloniki.

Workshop with Jay Leeming: Singing the River, Dreaming the Stone
In this workshop we will plunge into the resonant images of the Odyssey, that sea-tale in which the homesick warrior within each of us must endure many trials before at last finding his way home. We will hear excerpts from the story and then explore them through writing and visualization, finding our own way into the healing territory of its narrative. [FEST3]
Saturday 1/11 at TECHNODROMIO
20:30 “Feasting the Sea-god: Stories from the Odyssey” (90’)
Join storyteller Jay LeeA) for an eveming (USning of stories from the Odyssey, that wild sea-tale in which the sailor Odysseus must encounter angry sea-gods, floating cities, a prophet from the Land of the Dead and (of course) a witch who holds the keys to the Underworld before finally finding his way home.
This beautiful epic is itself a means of relation to the powers of wind, sea and the circling stars, its wonderous images the means by which the healing power of this story is conveyed to those who hear it. Music will be woven into the performance throughout. [FEST5]
